Description
Starting at Loza, the central square of Lagkada, the route follows the Melania loop before a paved path climbs gently past old stone farmhouses typical of the island’s rural architecture.
Reaching the Machos ridge, a cluster of windmills — the highest in the Cyclades at 550–570 m — impresses with its layout and sweeping views. On the way down, a fork leads to the cave chapel of Gero-Stavros. The return can be made directly to Lagkada or via a longer loop northeast through the areas of Daphne and Chalinaras.
