Description
Also known as “Kalogerikos Dromos” (the monks’ path), this historic route connects Chora and the monastery to the port of Katapola. It begins on the Katapola coast at the entrance to the picturesque village of Xylokeratidi, following a dirt track and paved path into the olive grove.
You reach Pera Rachidi, overlooking the Gialinas and Marmaros valleys, where the chapel of Agia Irini stands on remains from the classical era. Higher up, near Milies, you pass old wash-houses and a pottery kiln, along with two springs and oak trees, before the paved climb to Chora.
